Campbell Ventures Attends the Corbett Keeling M&A Dinner

Mike Campbell attended the Corbett Keeling’s M&A dinner on 15th November 2016 at the Capital Club in central London. Mike is a long standing Advisor to Corbett Keeling – an independent City of London  based mid-market corporate finance firm www.corbettkeeling.com. Twice a year Corbett Keeling host the M&A dinner events to create an opportunity for private business owners and directors to meet, exchange experiences and discuss topical issues affecting the value of their businesses.

The dinner was attended by over fifty business owners and directors of privately owned businesses and included a number of thought provoking speeches from Jon Moulton Chairman of private equity firm Better Capital, and Charles Rolls Co-founder of Fever Tree and previously the CEO who re-built Plymouth Gin.

Jon Moulton discussed “Brexit – the Opportunity” outlining that the UK government has an major opportunity to simplify, deregulate and refocus on stimulating and empowering businesses (rather than restricting them.)

Charles Rolls gave a lively presentation of how he turned around Plymouth Gin and created the famous Fever Tree brand. The key to success at Plymouth Gin was increasing the alcohol content, which set it apart from, and above, other premium brands. Whilst Fever Tree used capital from private equity to fund its essential growth and product development phase.

In the round up session Matt Dixon, MD of Corbett Keeling presented the firm’s latest survey of experts which conclusively reported their reassuring belief that Brexit, and perhaps by association the more general trend of populism, may have limited impact on M&A deals in the £10m to £100m bracket. Good news for everyone who attended!
